So I did the most unthinkable thing……I took all 3 of my boys to a giant candy store. Yep, shock and awe! Fortunately, they did really well. They each were promised 1 piece of candy of their choice. They each found their pieces within the first 10 minutes of arriving, then wanted to leave, but they did very well. No begging for more, no opening the packages, no causing messes. They did run arpund a bit, but nothing too drastically catastrophic. 😉 Yay!! My boys are growing up! Now the ride home was another story. We dropped off my dad, sister, and brother and went home. On our way home, my oldest got upset because I told him no more candy today and took his candy. He proceeded to scream, hit his brothers, spit, throw things. It was awful. So I did what any parent would do, I threatened to throw his candy away. He then lobbed a HUGE spitball at me, and that was the final straw. I threw his candy out the window. Yep, you read that right. It was either that or leaving him on the side of the road. Since I didn’t feel like loosing my kids, I chose to just throw the candy. It felt good. Today we had a nice conversation with their dad as to why it happened. Did my son still get upset? Yep, but I think he’s starting to understand consequences. Fingers crossed the parade tomorrow goes well! Happy 4th of July!
